Gaming has created good-paying jobs for more than 13,000 Minnesotans. The rural communities surrounding both Grand Casino Mille Lacs and Grand Casino Hinckley have enjoyed renewed growth and prosperity due in part to the jobs and tourism brought to the areas by the casinos.

Grand Casino Mille Lacs and Grand Casino Hinckley employ over 3,000 people. The casinos are the largest employer in each of their respective counties.

More than 40 local businesses have opened as a
direct result of increased demand and opportunities created by Grand Casino Mille Lacs and Hinckley, including restaurants, hotels, gas stations, and convenience and specialty stores.

People in the construction trades have also benefited; Grand Casino Mille Lacs and Hinckley have spent more than $100 million in capital construction since they opened, and the Mille Lacs Band has spent more than $50 million rebuilding its reservation.

New employment opportunities have drawn thousands of new residents to the area. From 1990 to 2000, the population increased 20% in Mille Lacs County and
25% in Pine County.

Grand Casino Mille Lacs and Hinckley are two of the largest tourist attractions in the state. In 2001, more than 3 million people visited Grand Casino Hinckley
and more than 2 million at Grand Casino Mille Lacs.
